Little Petra Sofa Karakorum 003

Architect and designer Viggo Boesen first presented the Little Petra VB1 lounge chair and the Little Petra VB2 sofa in 1938 as part of the `Copenhagen Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition`. Further international exhibitions and prizes followed. It is said that at that time only around 30 pieces of the armchair and two pieces of the sofa were made. Little Petra VB2 convinces with a compact size and a special shape. Thanks to this embeddedness, the Little Petra VB2 lounge sofa feels particularly cozy and comfortable and playfully outshines large, voluminous sofas.

Little Petra is named after Boesen’s mother-in-law and the fact that this cocktail couch with a total height of just 75 centimeters and a length of 150 cm appears relatively small. Little Petra VB2 in Karakorum convinces with special comfort and proves not only to be comfortable but also extremely versatile when it comes to choosing the seating position.

Covered with the bouclé fabric Karakorum, the lounge sofa Little Petra VB2 looks elegant and noble. Inspired by the look of valuable Persian fur, Karakorum is characterized by a comparable look with a pleasantly soft feel, comfort and fullness. Deep on the floor, open and `embracing`, Little Petra VB2 embodies the essence of a lounge couch and enables all kinds of seating positions in any conceivable environment: lobby, lounge, living room, club, men’s room, nursing room, children’s room, bedroom, hallway, office.

“A lot of work has been invested to ensure the greatest possible comfort, from the seat to the upholstery,” emphasizes the manufacturer, who reborn Little Petra VB2 in 2020. The use of natural materials was also important: the legs of the chair are made of oak or walnut are reminiscent of Viggo Boesen’s love for natural materials. Viggo Boesen is one of the rough diamonds in Danish design of the 20th century. With his designs and design works in the style of 'Danish Golden Age' and using natural materials, the native Dane is experiencing a renaissance because of his sustainable approach. The designer and architect gained an award for his Little Petra design, which was reissued by &tadition in 2018.
