&Tradition
Classic and modern
& tradition is a Danish label, which manufactures both, design classics by Verner Panton and Arne Jacobsen as well as designs by contemporary designers such as Victor Vetterlein, Sofie Refer or Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen. Based on advanced materials and the use of modern production processes.
“Craft meets art. Function meets form. Material meets potential. This is Nordic tradition. And this is our heritage that we cherish and keep”, says owner Martin Hansen about his brand &tradition (before Unique Copenhagen), who wants to combine handicraft with contemporary design.
Metal, wood, procelain, together with the colours black, white and natural tones and accents of impressive colours – this design concept is distinguished by the lamps and furniture of &tradition and reflects an important interor design style: Scandinavian Design. The Danish furniture and lighting manufacturers &tradition implements this style consistently.
Although now international designs, for example, from the London-based designer Benjamin Hubert are realized – the root are always in the Nordic tradition. “Tradition is a part of the identity,” says Martin Kornbek Hansen from &tradition. This make design classics such as the Flowerpot luminaire family and the Topan pendant lamps from Danish designer Verner Panton or the Bellevue Lamp by Arne Jacobsen to be important pillars of the &tradition Collection.
While the principles of quality are and remain timeless, design and production possibilities always develop further. The Danish company wants to transform, redefine and – as a result – change, while new materials are used, new techniques and new paths in production are applied. With it &tradition appreciates short distances and manufactures mostly in their home country Denmark, knows Hansen.
