Inspired by the blowball, the preface of a dandelion flower, Archille Castiglioni named his light sculpture after the botanical name of the dandelion, Traxacum. Like the blowball, which sends its seeds reminiscent of flight umbrellas out into the world in a breeze, the Taraxacum 88 C/W ceiling light directs its light flashes out and illuminates its surrounding. The viewer does not succumb to the special charm of the Taraxacum 88 C/W lamp only when it lights up. Even the sheer form embodies elegance, lightness and luxury.
